Just a purely beautiful song.

And another.

I’m in a Paul Simon mood tonight. So just for my ‘Hey, Boomer’ moment – here is the real version of this song. A pox on the Bangles.

And finish off with the best, the absolute best, music video ever made. Fight me.

  1. Interesting result on Google.

‘Hey, Google. Play ‘Days of Future Passed’ on speakers’

‘All right. Playing ‘Days of Future Passed’ by Iron Maiden on speakers’

    ‘HEY, GOOGLE! STOP! STOP!!!’

  2. OK, you’ve got me on the Foo video, if only because Dave Grohl is from here. My local brewery sits on Dave Grohl Alley.

Moody Blues – but of course! ‘Days of Future Passed’ has always been a favorite, but albums like ‘In Search of the Lost Chord’ are underrated. I am a prog rock fanatic. Was just listening to King Crimson this weekend.

But man. That’s, like, 55 years old? I’m amazed that new people are still listening.

    1. You should also watch the video for Foo Fighters’ “Run” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifwc5xgI3QM) – if you can make it through without laughing aloud, then you might need to check your pulse.

As for Moody Blues, I’ve listened to them for years, though it had been a while and I recently started a deeper dive into their discography and have to agree that a lot of their stuff is underrated – but then again, I’ve long since given up using radio popularity to determine my ratings for music.

And at 43 years old myself, I hardly consider myself “new people” – haha!

  3. I can agree that the first two are very beautiful songs. And I passed along your S&G vs Bangles versions of Hazy Shade of Winter argument to a friend who likes to keep a playlist of “Covers that some feel are better than the original” (and it is somewhat implied that he usually does not agree). And while I do admit that the “You Can Call Me Al” video is amusing, I can’t agree it is the best… I mean I’m not saying Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly” video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VQ_3sBZEm0) is the best, but I do think it tops that one.

And while we’re on the subject of music – I’ve been listening to a bit of Moody Blues for some reason recently and I was wondering if that was something in your wheelhouse – they seem to be a thinking man’s band, so for whatever reason I just seem to think it would be something you’d listen to. Or I could just be out in left field….

  4. But is there anything more boomer than Tim’s Blog? It seems appropriate. And I have added the best, no question about it, the best music video ever made.
