American Tune (continued)

So many, many years ago I was this huge fan of this guy who was the most amazing tenor I’d ever heard. You all saw my Paul Simon ‘American Tune’ post – here’s an angel singing it:

With that kind of Gershwin-ish clarinet up front. But the voice is all. I have some early albums that I cherish. In the meantime, my understanding is that he has gone on to some notoriety in the movies. And some kind of notoriety in television. And some kind of notoriety in

Systemic Racism: "I Don't Think That Word Means What You ...

Seriously, this is him and this is is his voice. He is wasted as a actor.

Belgium is imminent!

The plan is:

5/2 and 5/3, Antwerp.

5/6 and 5/7, Bruge:

https://www.mybeerexperience.com/en – 140m from the hotel
https://www.bourgognedesflandres.be/en – 350m from the hotel. Might have to get a taxi for that one. 🙂

5/8 – 5/11 Amsterdam:

I think by then I may have to dry out.  If nothing else, I’ll avoid the Heineken and Amstel.  😊

Should I stay or should I go?

So, two weeks until the Belgian trip. In the meantime – I’m having fun.

Modern Method’s Summer of Dub was something I did not know about. I wandered down there at around 2:30 and saw Adam – who told me that I should come back at six. I did. He was right.

Brewers band

Top left is Elisha of Babcia’s Lunchbox. She can cook and sing like this?

To her right is Josh Dunn from Birdfish. I asked, and yes, that is a Telecaster. Once upon a time 50 years ago, I played one. My roommate traded in a blond maple Tele for a Sunburst Strat. To his right is Adam from Modern Methods. Adam can sing!

Far right is Ira from Noble Creature. God, he can play some guitar! I assumed this would be some kind of Rock Bottom Remainders. I’m wrong. These guys could stand on their own. But bless them for making beer and food for me instead!

So getting back to the ‘should I stay’ thing. My head says I should get the hell out of northern Ohio. But with stuff like this going on in Warren – why? Damn.

But I think the fun part was seeing everyone I know from breweries, and bars, and grocery stores here! Jackson and Ashley and Josh and Jared and Keith and Amanda and Jitter and multiple Sarahs and Ryans and Jasmine and Sam and Laura and Ellen and… all the folks I know from wandering around town. And I do not make friends easily, and the more I run into these folks the less I want to move away from these folks.

Damn.

This was fun. This was more fun than I’ve had in a while. If only there were pinball…

Time for Spring chores

Finally warm enough to pressure wash the deck, and now that’s completed I can start getting some spring chores done!

But… if it’s warm enough to wash the deck, it’s probably warm enough to sit on the deck?

And if it’s warm enough to sit on the deck…

OK, time to avoid spring chores! Just think. I could be sitting in a useful two hour Teams meeting instead of wasting my time like this. Shameful.

Pinbrew 2022 done!

Well, for me, at least. I’ve been on my feet for three days, and I’m tired. Great time; I was at the beer tent this afternoon and noticed that the guy with the stocking cap and grey beard in front of me looked kind of familiar. James Pozzuoli told me that nothing in the mine has changed. Good to see you, man!

140 pinball machines. One that kept breaking all week was the Brooks and Dunn, and I figured out why. Like a good IT person, when it broke on me I turned if off and back on again. And it booted up to this:

Let’s look closer at that tiny monitor in the upper right:

Yup. It’s running XP. The wonder isn’t that it broke; the wonder is that it ran at all.

Anyway – fun times and folks from all over the country. I guess I’m spoiled. One guy from New Hampshire said that there were six breweries in his small town – and no pinball. Here I’ve got three breweries and one bar with pinball within 40 minutes. Life is good.
